9x12 Wool Rugs, Handmade in Anatolia

A 9x12 wool rug lets an entire seating group sit on the rug and anchors large, open rooms. Every rug here is a handmade vintage wool piece from Anatolia, Turkey, measured individually; sizes run roughly 8 ft 5 in to 9 ft 11 in wide and 11 ft to 13 ft long. Large vintage pieces are hard to find, so this collection changes often.

Where a 9x12 Works

  • Living rooms where the sofa and chairs sit fully on the rug.
  • Dining rooms with a table for six to eight.
  • Primary bedrooms under a king bed.

For even larger spaces, see 10x14 rugs. For a slightly smaller size, see 8x10 wool rugs, or browse all handmade wool rugs.

What are the exact sizes in this collection?

Roughly 8 ft 5 in to 9 ft 11 in wide and 11 ft to 13 ft long. Each rug's exact size is listed in feet and centimeters.
What room size suits a 9x12 rug?

Leave about 12 to 18 inches of floor between the rug and the walls, so a room of around 11 x 14 ft or larger.
Why are large wool rugs harder to find?

Large rugs took much longer to weave by hand, so fewer were made, and fewer survive in good condition.
Are these rugs wool and handmade?

Yes. Each is a vintage handmade rug from Anatolia with a wool pile, usually on a cotton foundation, and there is only one of each.
Do large rugs need a rug pad?

Yes. A pad keeps the rug flat under furniture, prevents shifting and protects the floor.
