2x12 and Extra Long Runner Rugs

Where a 2x12 Runner Works

Hallways about 13 ft and longer, long corridors and open-plan kitchens. For shorter spaces see 2x10 and 2x8 runners, or all runner rugs.

What size is a 2x12 runner rug?

About 2 to 3 ft wide and 12 ft or longer. Washable runners come in set sizes close to this, and vintage runners are listed with their exact measured size.
How long should my hallway be for a 2x12 runner?

A hallway of about 13 to 14 ft works well, leaving roughly 6 to 12 inches of floor at each end.
Is one long runner better than two shorter ones?

In most hallways, yes. One continuous runner looks cleaner and avoids a tripping edge in the middle of the walkway.
What is the difference between washable and vintage runners?

Washable runners are printed, newly made and machine washable. Vintage runners are handmade Turkish pieces, one of each, with irregular measured sizes.
Do extra long runners need a rug pad?

Yes. A pad keeps a long runner straight, stops it from sliding and protects the floor underneath.
